Please make sure that you have a few minutes of patience if you are logging into a Webex session for the very first time.

2. Join through the browser. Have heard from some people that audio connection is not possible then – have not been able to verify this though or offer a solution.

Therefore please connect with me via whatsapp or telegram before our session: I planned 45 min before we start at 19:00 to make sure that no one is deterred by technology. Please be patient with me, I might be overwhelmed with inquiries for help. I will make sure that I attend to everyone. I am happy to get reminders, so please make yourself heard again, if you do not get a reaction from me after some time. Thank you!

FuckUp Nights Basel Vol X

Posted by jjerlich on 19. February 2018

It is hard to report from FuckUp Nights Basel: I want to rave about every evening and it might sound cheesy to you already. But it is true, every evening is different and unique with a new mix of people and experiences connecting over a good glass of wine or beer.

THANK YOU to all 60+ participants for coming and contributing in our “Defining failure …” session.

The three untold fresh stories came from three women this time. There was no intention to make it a Ladies Night. It just was! Here are the three speakers you had the honor to meet:

Claudia Raine

Claudia Raine

After 30 different jobs and professions she tried out, she now owns a degree in International Relations and is a committee member of the Professional Women Group in Basel. Being able to really tell how it feels to be in the wrong job, she helps people stop feeling like they are doing time at their job and move to a job that they love.

It is so cool!

On her way she learned that embracing change and not forgetting to do her research despite a lot of enthusiasm is really the best recipe to reach her goal.

She also became an escape artists and escaped from over 50 escape rooms in 17 cities to date.

Sina MehlSina Mehl

“As in everybody elses life,” she says “my life is full of ups and downs and setbacks.” However, her curiosity for the things life has to offer, made her come up with a new plan B for every failed plan A. She decided to do only jobs or projects which excite her the most and feel right in that moment. This is how she experienced many different jobs and found out what she truly wants to do. Embracing the fear of not being perfect doing something you do the first time was her hard lession to learn on the way.

You do need to start!

Organizing self-development events, being a trainer and coach Sina loves to bring like-minded people together who learn from one another, and through that tap deeper into their own truth as well. This is where she does this –

Inside Out Movement

Olga QuesadaOlga Quesada

Olga has a passion to inspire others – in different ways and forms. She did that as a teacher for many years, before she decided that there is more to her life than teaching. Today she is a writer, producer of the Know-how Podcast Series for the Professional Women Group Basel, an Instagram magician and part of the cast in the Vagina Monologues 2018 to empower women. The key question she asked all of us that evening is

Do you really want to spend all this energy to be fighting with your business partner or rather invest it in something new?

A modest, powerful and fun person to be around. She will continue to support FuckUp Nights Basel on our way. Immensly happy about and looking forward to moving mountains having fun on the way.

Liberate Failure

Posted by jjerlich on 9. January 2018

This is the time to start thinking BIGGER about your brand and business. There is no a better time than to start NOW.

I know, it’s NOT simple to grow your business now. Yes, I agree. While technology has actually made it EASIER to grow your business, the downside is that it’s actually become more COMPLEX ! Not complex to get going, but complex to navigate through what you REALLY need to do.  There are no proven formulas and recipies that guarantee success, as promised in a myriad of programs, webinars, workshops and articles published and spread all over the Internet.

Only 10% of Business Owners study their entrepreneurial capacities AFTER a BUSINESS FAILURE.

Technology, women and age

Posted by olguitac on 7. January 2018

My sixty eight years old mother (if you read my last post you’d know we don’t hide our age) is so hook in technology she always wants to know about the latest thing, even if she is going to use it or not. She wants to know how it works and what it is used for.

She graduated as a Chemistry Engineer and worked in the field for some years after graduation, but somehow ten years later she chose Human Resources or it chose her. At that point she was a worker and became the boss of the HR department at the Food Industry Company for the country.

It was there when I saw her passion for new things, read all the company’s  laws to help her co-workers and subordinates. She spent nights working trying to solve every problem she could.

Technology wasn’t that advanced at the time but she always managed to get a new vision on how to do things a better way, less hassle and more time used helping than filling up paperwork.

That`s when computers were introduced to her and a whole new world opened in front of her. She could fill up forms, keep important information in the hard drive, memory sticks and so on, without the need to spend hours writing it up. If my mind doesn’t betray me she was in her late forties and she never once said “I can’t do it” or “it’s too hard for me”. It was like the mere idea of having something new to manage her work, she had to conquer it.

And that’s how I carry my life, I don’t care about my age to accomplish or learn new things. I left my job at thirty seven to start a new career and a Master. I don’t think about how old I feel, look or I actually am, I just think of doing and learning something new and fulfilling my passion.

I was in a meeting a few months back and I was introducing new ideas, not that I’m actually an eager user of that program I was talking about but I know it works in specific situations and when you want to reach a determined audience. My idea fell flat which is totally ok with me. But the excuse I got was

“I don’t know how to use that, I’m from another generation.”

Immediately I thought of my mom. How she never, ever complaint about her age and still doesn’t.

If there is a new technology, a new idea, a new way of doing things today at her sixty eight years old she still wants to learn about it. And here I have this woman (late forties maybe fifties) in front of me telling me she doesn’t want to get involve in something new because it’s not her generation.

It’s ok to let young people do their thing, but at what point we have to stop our mind, or desire, our passion to allow the new generation to shine?

  • Can’t we all survive in this world together?
  • Can’t we all learn from each other?
  • Can’t we all just live until the last minute without the need to feel or being told how old we are?

Where is the time?

Posted by olguitac on 31. December 2017

I recently discussed with a wonderful person how time is always a pressure around us, technology speeding up things, so we say as if a piece of technology could really do that, … well society forcing this rules on us that everything need to be done faster and faster.

We decided to do something about that.

First step … make it visible!

We started writing about it … actually she did. Here we go … the starting paragraphs of the story with the title:

I’m not too old

When I was in my twenties, I felt like I was rushing to find something out there, whether it was a boyfriend that would later turn into a husband, two children … because you should never have one or none and three would be too much.

Can`t forget to get a good set of friends and more importantly a career that you find fulfilling and will give me plenty of time to be with my children and enough money to go on vacations.

So many things in so little time after all I had to do crazy amount of things before or by the time I reach my thirties and squeeze all of that in a ten year period.

It was exhausting to say the least. I felt like I couldn’t make it, I was avoiding the big silent enemy that is the Stress.  At some point I felt this rush to become successful, rich or powerful before I turn forty or fifty because what’s the point in making it then? It doesn’t sound so appealing as if I was to do all that in my twenties. Has a better ring to it, isn’t?

Well, not in my book. Everybody has a journey and speeding it up is not going to make it any sweeter or better than it is for the next person. We need to stop age judgement to define a person. It’s even worse and harder if you are a woman.

Why can’t we just ask women their age? Because we are embarrassed you are going to judge us, call us old hag, not employ us because let’s face it: once you’re old society, science makes you believe you are not good enough.

I don’t hide my age. Even when every woman in my family except mother did, I promised myself at a young age that I would be like my mother, I wouldn’t hide the fact that I was growing old, that I had a past, living a present and was looking forward to a future. And as proud as I am telling my age one day, someone told me “I like to tell my age because I look good.” It made me feel horrible because that was not the idea. I didn’t think of that I was just proud and loud to be standing there and not letting age define me.

I have heard so many people over forty say: I can’t learn a new language, my brain can’t handle it anymore, there is no point on doing this or that because science say it goes downhill from now on. It’s really hard to look for a job because they won’t hire me anymore … there are a lot more examples – don’t get me wrong – I have nothing against what science says about our bodies and how we process new information by a certain age, but at some point we need to stop treating people this way.

Making them feel that by thirty you have already lost the rat race … maybe and only maybe we as society wouldn’t have to rush so much all the time.

By the way in case you are wondering I’m 38.

… to be continued!

How do you feel about age?

Where are the limits of your box?

She showed us very visually how this happened for her and where it lead her to be now:

Passionate about growing businesses, Ralf started 13 companies as founder or co-founder. His story allowed us to get insights into several of those companies and their results on Ralf in person and the effects or lets say decisions that followed for the companies he founded after that.

Do not expect things to continue as they were today – a fast change may be around the corner tomorrow.

Thanks for the unique insights!

BaselHack – Retrospective and glimpse into the future

Posted by jjerlich on 31. October 2017

It was a real pleasure being part of the BaselHack organizers committee for the last couple of months, collaborating with people from different backgrounds and organizations sharing their skills, talents and connections to make #BaselHack a reality. It was an interesting process that worked out fabulously.

The pre-event Friday before the hack was the first parameter showing us the interest of talents from the region and resulted in having first idea pitches. On Saturday morning the excitement was literally in the air. With a time limit of only 60 seconds.pitching started right after a short introduction with 14 ideas, 11 of them found their teams and work started in full swing.

After the code freeze at 16:00, the transformation of the room on Sunday presentations started at 16:30. Each of the still 11 teams had 5 minutes to present their project, the work done, the challenges encountered in a clear, inspiring and engaging format. It was great to see the sponsors,  data providers from Canton Basel Stadt and other stakeholders, as well as many visitors from our own networks and families.

The first and legendary #BaselHack winning teams are:
1. ClockChain
2. Smart Contacts
3. My side effects

At the same time we have the view that being part of something that is bigger than yourself is a win for everyone involved. In fact everyone wins at a Hackathon: organizers, visitors, jury and all participants – it is just an amazing experience to work together for an intensive period of time – two days (and a night) – to solve problems by creating solutions, many of them with social impact. In this spirit everything created is available for the public at https://github.com/BaselHack

Come and join us next time: With many skills, abilities, competencies and viewpoints in one room it is quite hard to not learn something!

Thank you for EVERYONE`s EFFORT in MAKING this very first #BaselHack happen.

We are determined to continue and stay connected to the new community until BaselHack 2018.

The PROJECTS

Group Traffic Squad
Robin Freyburger : Gaël Tugler : Vincent Perrin : Carlo Field : Vivienne Mayer

The team used Radar data from the Canton Basel Stadt for creating a traffic map color-coding danger of speeding cars in the streets In Basel. A very useful application, if you put yourself in the shows of parents looking for a safe way to school for your child. The product is ready for you now, even after processing 16 million data points, that alone took a couple of hours, and overcoming the loss of their front end developer.

Group Beervelopers
Difan Lin : Tobias Würsch : Biraveenmaks Ponnu : Björn Pfoster : Simon Drabert

The group visualized the beer consumption from a beer keybot made available from Adobe for the end consumer and for bars and production lines. Their requirement was to make the app very easy to use. Seeing the amount of beer consumed graphically might make the difference at your next Basler Biermarkt.

Group Blink
Tina Crameri: Ankit Bharthan: Nicolas Barbé: Victor Parmar : Célia Bel

Connecting impaired people with volunteers able and ready to offer rides on a short notice. Covering the gap for organized rides that need to be pre-booked three days in advance. The idea for this app came from an enthusiastic foundation employee from the Canton Solothurn and will enter into service as soon as possible.

Group PubTransViz
Alexander Timmermans : David Barrat . Dominik Stankowski

Visualization of the interconnectivity and access of locations in Basel – useful when you have to go from one location to several others. This application is useful for city planners to see how a new public transportation line would change the interconnectivity in Basel, it is also a help when you search for a location that needs to satisfy several specific access parameters. The product concept was created with data from opendata.Swiss and data from BVB.

Group Smart Contacts     2nd prize
Alexander Boll : Sebastian Fix : Oliver Reist : Thiago Perrini : Richard Strnad : Thomas Baer

Missing data in contact details of smart phones, databases of companies and organizations. Sure that none of us really liking to do the necessary updates, the app makes it very easy and fast, a couple of seconds, and updates become automatic, pushed from the data owner to all of his or her network contacts. The group used design thinking as basics for their team work and started into prototyping only after all parameters were clear.

Group Illumina
Anders Bott : Nuno Soares

The idea was born while cooking: Controlling lights with hand gestures without touching anything and making it dirty. And yes, it is not just about an on and off switch but adjustment of brightness as well. This project idea is different than all others because it was hardware based and actually touchable. The application finds its market in home automation or can also be used in public places, as well as in specific situations where touching is not allowed.

Group Clockchain       1st prize
Dietrich Rordorf : Roland Brand : Priska Burkard : Clemens Bachmair

Exchanging your work for receiving time – Saving the Swiss Retirement System. You could also name it the time stock exchange. The demonstration shows how easy it is to secure transactions between two parties using blockchain technology. But of course, it all takes time.

Group Whitchway
Matthias Cullmann : David Zimmerli : Joel Zimmerli : Christian Hauck

An easy question every day that may sound easy to solve: which way can you get home faster? This app helps you decide in a split second which tram. Real time data is used from SBB BVB.

Group Visual Fish
Christopher Zimmermann : Jen Stehlik : Alen Klaric : Michael Mell : Dirk Dresch

It started with the question on how to automized experiences = Visualizing chat – a fun thing to do! The market for this application is much bigger than you think. Visualizing content created in conferences or innovative event formats could be just as interesting as using it for your entertainment.

Group Basel Inside
Fabrizio Parrillo : Quentin Garnier : Galia Shai : Nicolas Mauchle : Denis Augsburger : Denise Baumann

Visualizing data from different open data sources to browse in a fun way. The society, the people living in Basel, should have access to this data. Browsing the data in an interactive way plays an important role for all stakeholders.

Group My side effect       3rd prize
Philip Pisa : Misgana Negassi : Moritz Freidank : Moritz Rocholl : Tomas Jezek : Abhimanyu Verma : Felix Karg : Monica Ticlla-Ccenhua : Maximilian Roth : Pranika Singh

Web Application and app that allow you to browse the huge medical database about side effects of medicines for your personal characteristics. Like that you can decide which of the side effects you prefer. Actually this problem is the same for doctors.

Look around you …

Posted by jjerlich on 28. September 2017

When you get involved in an activity, that grows into a movement and put your heart into turning it into a community, amazing things happen. Human connection inspires!

Here is the story:

After about a year organizing and holding FuckUp Nights in Basel with my partner Isabelle Valibus, creating an open and diverse community of people sharing their real life stories and what they learned, I decided that it is time to meet like-minded people from other locations.

I am now in Mexico meeting the FuckUp Nights family members in Puerto Morelos. The reason: the 5th birthday of the global movement. Unfortunately all plans changed due to two earthquakes that recently happened in Oaxaca, Chiapas and Mexico City.

So instead of a FuckUp Night in Puerto Morelos, a Bazar con causa was organized by the team here. Knowing first hand from family and friends affected in the regions, the decision was to personally help with what the can.

In the below video interview Niza is personally telling how it happened that so many people donated their services during the 8 hours of the Bazar: Local Mexican Food Specilities, Massage, Cartoonistas, Henna Painting …

Look around you and support each other.
If we all look around us and help the next person, we will all reach.

Niza Mendoza Lafitte

Very early this morning Niza and supporting friends – among them Dejan from FuckUp nights Vienna left with a truckload of things.

Humble and happy to have met Niza – have a very safe trip!

Niza leaving Puerto Morelos

Horrible – I am overqualified

Posted by jjerlich on 20. September 2017

I have been reading from, working with, coaching and support highly qualified people with the skills our businesses need.

At the same time companies claim that they do not find the skills they need.

Something is seriously wrong!

Here is an article from a highly creative person, powerful and driven – I want to share with you today.

TEAM HUMAN

What do you do when you are overqualified?

Working

My story starts with my 5-year search for my dream job. Before starting my narrative, I will provide you with a key piece of information: I have a 5-year gap in my professional career during which I was a flight attendant

How terrible !!!! How can someone change their career path for 5 years to see something else and then come back to the real “professional world”?

At the time, call me naïve; I had no idea that most of the people I would meet would put me in a box, i.e. the “Air Hostess” box, which is so hard to escape. At this point, I feel that it is important for me to provide some perspective to this “most terrible of professions” … being a flight attendant.

It is one of the hardest jobs in the world! You are permanently tired because of the shifts, working on planes is physically exhausting, you have to look good and represent the values of the airline brand at all times. But worst of all, you need to be polite and serve thousands of passengers every month, regardless of their moods, which you can believe me, is often bad. Air travel today is a far cry from the luxurious experience it once was. So, believe me when I tell you that being a flight attendant teaches you customer service on steroids.

After a long period of intensive job searching, finally someone saw my potential, gave me a chance and hired me. I was fortunate, it was a good job and I learnt a lot. Things were moving pretty fast and quite nicely, until the day the company decided to relocate abroad, and sadly, I had to move on.

Since then, I have been doing gazillion interviews … for zero outcome. I have received offers, but they weren’t what I expected.

For 90% of recruiters, the questions were not very original and focused on the following point: how come you became a flight attendant (I didn’t know I had to explain myself so extensively on this matter), and obviously the answer to my explanation was: “well… you don’t have enough experience in your field of expertise and activity! Really??? 5 years out of a 15-year career were putting my professional fate in the balance?

Being seriously downhearted about the lack of progress vis-à-vis job searching, the day finally arrived: I hired a headhunter, I paid a fair amount of money to help me understand what’s wrong with me, my CV, my positioning. The professional analysis that was made on my CV, career, employment track, studies was a surprise to say the least and was quite unexpected.

She simply told me: “You are overqualified! I don’t think even I can imagine the face I made when I answered “WHAT?”

She then explained to me the simple facts of my CV: “You have enough studies to be in different sectors, you are driven, hands on and quite a personality, most of the jobs out there, they demand character and creativity, but in reality, what they really want is someone that sticks to this “bloody” predefined (easy-to-categorize) box and doesn’t seek to get out of it. Your crime is that you did”.

FUN.Basel Vol VIII – Event of your choice

Basel has so many events happening on regular intervals: Wednesdays, Thursday – the days all have specific labels already and I know that there are other events tomorrow night that even I would go to … if there was not a FuckUp Nights Basel.

Thank you so much for your decision to join the conversation about failure! Thank your for the trust in us and your engagement to be part of this cultural shift Isabelle and I are working hard to keep on pushing along here in Basel.

The time our evening was a little different than before – we were all active and a lot of the conversations was circling around this quote:

“Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door. ”
Coco Chanel

Our special guests and speakers you had the honor to meet were:

Carol Daubney

Carol Daubney
Looking behind the “How are you? I am fine.” ritual reveals a lot of insights – the corporate executives Carol trains benefit from her deep understanding based on her own experiences.  Her advice:

There is no shame in asking for help!

She touches all of us with her story and the reason why she is really happy to share her story:
“I am doing what I am doing because I wished that someone had told me 20 years ago.”

Ludovic Pureur
Ludovic Pureur
We really enjoyed the story of Ludovic, especially the coaches in our audience who all went to thank him afterwards. Ludovic`s experience in sales & marketing in consumer electronic distribution within European markets and the end of a company lead him to a Start-ups he loves to work for and partly owns today.

Being open and transparent to your employees pays off !

Success requires getting out of our comfort zone – and leads to something better!

Steffy Böhm

Stephanie Boehm
A humble young lady who owns a designer label and 3 shops – despite the cultural and family pressure. She could not find a FuckUp, even searching really hard.

I can only see feedback, don`t you?

Steffy is really passionate about fashion but never a fashion victim. Even though her first stepy did take her to do a Master in Business Administration in Marketing, she never gave up her dream and build up her plan to become a designer.  With lots of experience from the trade working for large companies in retail management before she today knows exactly what she is doing.

We are looking forward to see you on November 9, 2017.

Extremely tired and extremely happy

Posted by jjerlich on 9. July 2017

I am so thankful for having had the honor to be the amplifyer for such an important movement: the SUGAR AWARENESS WEEK brought to you by Puricious!! ❤️❤️❤️

Sabine Van T Hart

After 2 highly intense weeks

Sabine Van T Hart is so driven to get the knowledge people need to decide for a healthy sugarless lifestyle. I really enjoy supporting this mission, I actually feel that it is my duty to do so.

It is not the chocolate, the cockies and the icecream, we know that this is sugar  – it is the hidden sugars, the fact that almost everything we buy has sugar inside which we are not aware of. This is the trap we all fall into. We do not want YOU to fall into this TRAP.

Thank you so much for listening and reading about the facts about sugar. It was so great to see the feedback rolling in, check how many people saw the materials created and followed into the course with a highly professional 360° Analysis what the sum of all sugars we take per day does to our body.

Sabine was working non-stop to answer all the questions and personally receive the wonderful feedback. Yes, I am speaking about several hundreds of emails, phone calls and other social contacts points – Sabine was soooo happy and of course so extremely tired that it took some time to recuperate from this intense time.

Sabine Van T Hart

Enjoying a sugary treat after catching up with sleep

Can you see the difference on the fotos?

Since you know now that I myself have ditched sugar with Sabine, I can only recommend to take a helping hand and not try to do this alone.

I am like this … I always think that I need to have the self -discipline to do “this” myself … does this sound familiar to you?

The fact is that our brains are tricking us and if you do not know in advance what shape and form these tricks can take, you are doomed.

A guiding hand to reduce your sugar intake is the best way … I wish you had Sabine on your side to do this together!!

She does not only have the expertise, she has the experience of having guided 378 clients from all around the worldwide (yes, from a distance) on HOW TO REDUCE SUGAR … and seen incredible HEALTH TRANSFORMATIONS happen in as little as 10 days.

She has the heart and soul needed to support you in your journey in a soft and at the same time determined way as no one else has.
Thank you Sabine for being who you are.

[SILVER] 10-Day Sugar Rehab program

[PREMIUM] 10-Day Sugar Rehab program

[EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE COACHING] 10-Day Sugar Rehab program

What is the difference between them?

Depending on how much support you need for the changes and how you feel comfortable in your learning process, the program levels reflect the personal contact hours you have with the resources and of course, Sabine and Marco from Puricious.

There will be a Webinar for answering questions about exactly this point and we will make sure to post the invitation to it here.

Here is the WEBINAR LINK

See you there

Wishing you inspiring conversations

Posted by jjerlich on 28. May 2017

I remember my first trip to Sweden, excited to meet the Scandinavian community of high class educators: IT educators at schools and universities crossing all knowledge levels and ages learning about cutting edge technology for our (increasingly) smart societies.

goodVibes Stockholm

I very much enjoyed the vibrant climate and inspirational conversations with nice, competent and young students as well as their teachers. I would go again any time.

The coming days Kane Minkus is coming your way,

Har du koll på Kane?

This foto shows Kane the way I know him: open, direct, full of humor and respectful and in this combination a very inspiring and motivating individual.

He helps business owner and want-to-be business owners to

  • become clear about what they are best at,
  • become more visible and credible,
  • build their personal brand
  • … ultimately grow their businesses and themselves.

It is great to work with him, not only inspired me but catapulted me to a new point in life. I am happy that you have the chance to personally meet him next week as well.

You will find more details when you check out the registration page for his FREE event below.

Will I meet you in the Community of Holistic Entrepreneurs and Business Owners?

You can not eat cheesecake :-(

Posted by juttajerlich on 19. May 2017

If you love cheese cake like me, you are in pain right now.

Are you seeing this beautiful and yummy cake and the recipe below?

Raw+vegan+strawberry+cheesecake

I am so happy to be able to tell you, confirm you, sign a certificate to your significant other … that this cake is sugar-free and vegan.

Even better it does not have dairy (which I should not eat) nor additives like in most conventional cheesecakes.

This recipe is for you,
… the only reservation: if you are allergic to nuts!

Sabine from Puricious was so nice to allow us to share it with you. A massive thank you!!!

Here is what she writes:

The car that was not a car

Posted by juttajerlich on 16. May 2017

or … getting into the driver seat!

Jutta Jerlich & Kane MinkusI think we all know this … feeling like you are not in the driver seat of life.

Is someone else driving?

Is some kind of robot controlling the direction (and you do not find the Stop button)?

Are the circumstances or things in your environment controlling the car?

Whatever it is in your life – I recommend you to get out of it and start creating your own reality.

What difference can I make?

Posted by jjerlich on 10. May 2017

Use your voiceDear all,

We always think that what one person decides does not really make a whole lot of difference to others in the world.

Since I can think, I have always been taking a different stand motivating others to use their voice and let the world know and felt very frustrated that it was not really inspiring people to do so.

Doing this in a not-so-digital world, before our current times, was not that easy, because the person who stands out and up for what he or she believes in was often alone against the crowd. Swimming against the current.

I am so glad that these times are over.

The voices and weights of all the one persons are now coming together. Like this we can change the world.

Yes, we can.

I just received a letter from Ricken Patel. He is the founder of http://www.Avaaz.org – my deepest respect and honor for your work, Ricken.

Avaaz is a 44-million-person global campaign network that works to ensure that the views and values of the world’s people shape global decision-making. (“Avaaz” means “voice” or “song” in many languages.) Avaaz members live in every nation of the world; our team is spread across 18 countries on 6 continents and operates in 17 languages. Learn about some of Avaaz’s biggest campaigns here, or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

There are no better words to explain everyone of YOU the weight of YOUR VOICE.

Inspirational regards

Jutta

Dear Avaaz movement,

I have a crazy confession to make. I started Avaaz, and I don’t sign many petitions.

I always think, “yeah, but what difference is my one extra signature going to make?” I feel like I have more important things to do, like making sure our petitions are powerfully delivered.

But wow, am I glad the rest of us don’t think this way. Because while it’s true that the 1,137,540th signature doesn’t by itself change the game, the whole million of them absolutely can. And the whole million is just a million individual people hoping, believing and acting. Doing *their* part, however small, to make a better world. Without people who make that individual choice, our movement would not exist.

So much of life is like this. Any one of us could be the one person to skip the line, or not vote, or lie on our taxes, or turn away from a neighbour in need. But we don’t. Why?

Because it’s who we are. Because it’s the right thing to do. Because we were raised to love and serve. Because we know what a dark world it would be if everyone failed to do their part.

I’ve always been awed by the decency of the people in this movement. You teach me again and again. And in reflecting on this question of why we sign, I come back to my own behaviour. And I pledge to sign more. To be part of that simple act of connection to others, in hope, service, and that precious kind of strength that we can only find together.

Click below to see and join a global, multilingual live chat of our movement about why each of us sign (and message, share, call, lobby, donate, march). These times call for all of us to step up to the needs of our communities and our world – let’s inspire each other to service:

Why we sign

I know many of us are moved by seeing the list of names of others who have signed scroll by on the petition page. I am too. Look for my name there.

With gratitude for this stunningly beautiful movement,

Ricken and the team

PS – Of course, our petitions are just the beginning of our campaigns — and Avaaz runs some of the most effective, strategic, don’t take no for an answer, never say die campaigns in the world! I know many of us only see a campaign at its beginning. See our victories page to see what it looks like at the end.

One of a Kind Expert

Posted by jjerlich on 4. May 2017

It was about a year ago that I first met Kane Minkus in a short introduction event in Basel. As a digital expert I always remember where I got to know about the event – I clicked on a Linkedin ad. Really good that Linkedin knew I was in Basel at that time. 🙂

Jutta Jerlich and Kevin Harrington

Long story short:
Since the first time I spoke to Kane a year ago lots of changes happened. First of all personal development led me to take decisions differently. Most of all the incredible network and people I am now connected and collaborate with.

… No, it is not just about taking fotos with famous people – here I am with Kevin Harrington, the guy from the US Television  Show Shark Tank. I did have the opportunity to speak with Kevin in person and enjoyed meeting him.

I want to express my joy that I know Kane and Alessia who you will get to meet if you join them at the next upcoming “Start At The Top” program.

Yes, they are coming again to Switzerland and Yeah !! Germany & Austria as well. Here are the dates and time – just click on the pic or your city and sign up for the FREE event.

It is so much worth your time and it will change your life.

Dates to join Kane Minkus SATT

A little MORE about Kane

Kane & the Industry Rockstar team have been teaching the worlds brightest business owners how to really make a difference and create a legacy in their industry.

With 30 years old he had launched over 24 different companies, taking 5 of them to multi million dollar and multi international success. Learning a few things from a guy like that is an opportunity you should not let pass by.

At the same time he stayed a person you can talk to – it is so much fun to see him on stage and work with him.

Will I meet you in the Industry Rockstar Community of Holistic Entrepreneurs and Business Owners soon?

All the best

Understanding Creativity

Posted by jjerlich on 31. March 2017

is a first step.

Understanding your own aptitude for creative thinking is the best first step you can take. Knowing and enjoying your own creativity and the blocks that keep your creativity from flowing is essential to a happy life.

Jutta Jerlich Guest Author Understanding Creativity

That is why I wrote a couple of sections as a guest author of the new book

Understanding Creativity

I have been collaborating with the main two authors Dr. Daniel Collado-Ruiz and Dr. Hesamedin Ostad-Ahmad-Ghorabi for many years now and want to thank them for including my thoughts and expertise.

The topics I burn for

  • Communication Culture
  • Conflicts Management
  • Learning from failures

I highly recommend you to read this book, it is not only explaining creativity in a simple way but also gives a lot of practical examples and tipps on why a specific method might work in your case and others not.

Let me know if you do so.
I am always connecting with my readers and curious about feedback.

Inspirational regards

Jutta

FUN.Basel Vol V – Walk the talk

Posted by jjerlich on 27. February 2017

An exquisite group of people joined the 5th #FuckUpNightBasel‬ at Launchlabs. The organizers decided that it is time. Time to walk the talk themselves, understanding and experiencing first hand what it means to be a FuckUp Night speaker. Joined by a third professional, the topic of the evening was clear:

3 Stories of Failure in highest management positions: backgrounds and setting

The discussion with the participants was very intense, following question in the center of attention:

How much does your setting have to do with the failure and what does it do to you as an emotional being?

Thanks to our speakers at @FUN_Basel Vol V
